Honestly? Yes.. I think you are reading a bit too much into it. I deal with software developers all the time at work, and even when they can't give any specific information.. it's not always bad.. sometimes, they're trying to pull a Mr. Scott (Tell them it'll take 40 hours, do it in 4 and be amazing).

Besides, we know the real reason for the delay in beta... they are based in Montreal. They are enjoying the "scenery" too much
Honestly, if they hadn't sent that beta e-mail the other month, this would not be an issue. But they did, so people expected a beta soon. Thus lies the problem. "Soon" for some people is a few days or a week. For others (like companies) it can be a couple months.

Is a new update coming tomorrow before the chat? Shortly after?

IGP has a little video of Montreal on their site... I didn't see any snow! I thought Canada was always snowed under!
Just kidding.. it actually looked quite pretty, I could see how they'd get distracted on days with nice weather..
But, yeah, I agree about the premature notification initially.. though I think this thread did a good job clarifying the circumstances since then.

Heh. I wasn't talking about the weather or city (although they are both nice). Montreal is known for it....how to say this nicely... beautiful people and clubs where certain people remove items of clothing while dancing.

All things aside, I find it to be rather irresponsible to say that beta was coming in a few weeks time back in May when it we are beyond several, and I would be interested in hearing the thought process of that decision.
Thanks.

1- (less likely) It was poorly worded. I was supposed to tell us that Friends and FAmily Beta was starting in a few weeks time from then, and then a closed beta would be next.
2- (More likely) CLosed beta brought up some serious issues they had to fix. That kind of thing usually necessitates a re-run of that beta level, so 2 friends and family betas likely occurred, or are occurring still. So they really meant, "Should start in a few weeks if the friends and family beta goes as planned" ...which it never does. lol.
That said, I don't think it's irresponsible, per se. It can only be irresponsible if they have a responsibility, and as of right now, they have none to us at all, so a premature announcement is just a mistake, not irresponsible.

But when it doesn't snow we do have transportation issues. Dog sleds don't move well across concrete.

In addition to what Modred mentioned... Several weeks to a Software Developer, is not the same amount of time that those of us (im)patiently awaiting beta keys would consider several weeks.
Several weeks in Developer speak = More than 2
Several weeks in (im)patiently waiting potential beta tester speak = 2-3 weeks.
This thread was started to give us all an update on the game state AFTER the initial email went out back in May announcing that F&F had started. So it's not like they sent the email, and then haven't communicated further..

Unknown. The only criteria we know so far for beta selection (when it happens), is that some level of priority will go to people who were on the old site.. after that... it'll probably be random.
