New MechWarrior Tactics 3D Turnaround: Jenner

Posted Image

http://mwtactics.com...rnaround_jenner

The Jenner's hit-and-run style was meant to revolutionize guerrilla Mech warfare. High mobility to easily get into position for devastating barrages using its 4 directional-mount Medium Lasers and SRM 4.

Tricky heat management and a light armor configuration means a MechWarrior must choose the optimal time to strike or else they can leave themselves open to a counterstrike.

Very nice.
I like that one of the 'asymmetrical' elements are the way the outboard weapons pods are laid out.

LOOKS AWESOME!!!

You can tell this is a Jenner right out the door, interesting looking armaments on it.

EDIT: is that a SRM4 in gatling style on the center torso above the cockpit or just a aesthetic look.

I'm a big fan. It defintiely has an air of 'light' mech about it, not just 'small'.

I didn't think we had access to swarm SRM 4's yet...?

I am not sure if its in the center or the two boxes on each side of the torso?? I can’t tell ... maybe they should have it also fire its weapons in

Also, can I say I love the use of lens flare in the 3D turnarounds. Michael Bay would be proud (in a good way!). As in, The Island, not Star Trek

I would assume that's a torso machine gun, not an SRM launcher.
If I had to guess, I'd say a small and medium laser in each arm and an MG in the torso.

(alternately, given the possible size disparity between the smaller weapons in each arm, it could be a large and medium laser in the right arm and a large and small laser in the left, but mounting two large lasers in a Jenner seems silly to me since you'd basically have to strip out most of the armor and heatsinks and reduce the speed to almost nothing)

What's the logic behind one medium laser being twice the size of the other? It's also starting to feel very forced with all these assymetrical elements that is being introduced in the designs, from a constructional point of view it would make much more sense if the two weapon arms/pods were the same.

Jenners don't have to have the same load out in each arm. Even by TT rules.. you could stack say small lasers in one arm, and put a SRM or a single Medium laser in the other..

edit: Removed stray apostrophe..the little bugger just jumped in where he shouldn't have been.

And you know, at one point it may have been that way. But then a mean old atlas came and blew off one arm with his AC/20. The Jenner survived the fight however, but getting the same Pulsar Med laser and Pulsar Small laser that came with the original design was three times the cost of just salvaging two Proton 9X lasers off the down hunchback. So they were added, but it wasn't as easy to change over as expected, and they had to swap the positions of the lasers to get them to work properly. Sucks, but it happens.

Yeah I was just going by the description under the mech, but if that's supposed to be a variant with small and medium lasers it's of course fine.

Haha yeah I could accept that explanations for this specific Jenner, but if every Jenner in the game looks like that I will become annoyed again :). I don't know how much or if the in-game models will change when you change the loadout of a mech, but if weapons from different manufacturers makes the mechs look different it would be cool.

One of those MWT redesigns that I don't like that much but still I can say that it is not super bad. I don't like those rather big "windows" nor those asymmetrical gun pods?(those things look almost the same except for few details but one is mounted upside down).

very classic, looks good... MWO´s Jenner looks cool too, more modern maybe...but that is about 20 years later, so that fits :)

Well, it definitely is a Jenner. That´s good.
I don´t like the asymetrical weapons pods, but well, maybe this Jenner had to use a salvaged left arm as a replacement for a right arm, so I can look over it.

I can´t realy make out an SRM-4 (3 tons with ammo) and the arms seems to hold a small and a medium laser each (1 ton). On the other hand, there is a chin turret holding, what I would assum to be twin machineguns (2 tons with ammo) which leaves two tons for up-armoring or more heatsinks (personaly, I´d take the armor)

Overall, while not extatic, I can live with this one :)
