Things we know

"The game is going to be browser-based, and we confirmed that it will be fully functional on Mac and Linux along with PC. When you create your account, you’ll be handed a starter set, that provides you all the tools to get started with every aspect of the game. Boosters (called "STACs" – Surplus Tech/Armor Containers) will be available, but price points haven’t been locked down yet. Your "cards" will come in different flavors.
..........
Should you desire to expand your collection, you can use earned or purchased in-game currency to buy new STACs. These function as boosters, with cards coming in common, uncommon, rare and ultra-rare varieties. STACs will include stock mechs, chassis, resources and aesthetic options. Weapons and parts will come from different manufacturers with set bonuses in play for smart construction. It only makes sense that you’ll have better synergy among components designed for complementary installation."

Taken from the article Field the Lance of your dreams

So this is a browser based game that will play on PC,Mac and Linux

You will get new equipment/mechs by purchasing stacks (cards) and there will be common, uncommon, rare

----------------------------------

""A laser isn't just a laser," Williams said. "A laser is going to be created by a certain manufacturer, and so if you have a number of components from the same manufacturer, you can actually have bonuses. So we're driving players to actually look for and collect components that work well together." I'm not sure item set bonuses will be worth the inventory bloat that comes from having Coke and Pepsi-flavored autocannons, but I'm even more doubtful that this will square with their intent to make skill paramount in deciding victory.

DropShips Inbound

There's another wrinkle: when you commit a lance to combat, those units are no longer available for other games until their game is resolved. So if you like playing lots of games simultaneously -- and with the pace of Tactics' turn-based asynchronous combat, you probably will -- you won't be able to have one super-lance that you can use in every one. In this way, it pays to have a lot of Mechs and equipment in your virtual Mech bay

While the team is laser-focused on making a competitive 1v1 wargame, Williams and Cleroux definitely want it to be about more than deathmatch. "We want players to be able to engage in missions and matches that are about more than just blowing each other up," Cleroux said. "We want players to have to make critical decisions and have choices about, 'How am I going to go about planning my lance construction to best achieve a different type of objective?""

this was taken from the gamespy article

So weapons of the same type will be made by different companies, so there will be different variants for each weapon

you can only play each mech in one match at a time, in other words if mech A is in a match and you want to start a new match Mech A it will not be available till the end of your other game.

 --------------------------

"For those who can tell the difference between the Mad Cat III and a Mad Dog Mk IV mechs, the devs have included the kinds of combat detail you’ve grown accustomed to. Things like heat management are crucial – go overboard with your firepower, and your mech will overheat, making you a sitting duck for the enemy. It’s these kinds of awesome subtleties that get us all aflutter over MWT’s combat, where gun placement and terrain can make the
difference between victory and defeat. "Where you put your weapons matters, for line of sight," notes Cleroux. "There are elevation rules, blocking terrain rules – we even have water features [regarding heat management]. If you’re standing in the water, and you have submerged heatsinks, you’re double-cooling for those sinks."
Taken from the gamesradar article

placement of weapons count for line of site

if you have heat-sinks in your legs and are in water you will cool down faster (heat is a B#$#@)

and for a really good article on what MWT will be about go here
----------------------

“What can you tell us about the multiplayer modes for MechWarrior Tactics?
Chris Cleroux: Players will have the option of creating and playing Custom or Ranked matches. Custom allows players to specify all of the match parameters and invite your friends to play, while Ranked will pit you against a random opponent with your preferred match settings. We’re not quite ready to talk about specific game modes yet, but we are working on objective based modes that allow players multiple victory conditions. While blowing every enemy mech off the map is definitely one way to win, we want players to explore other strategic options available.

How will the game handle features such as matchmaking and clan support?
Chris Cleroux: For launch, players will have to handle their own clan support as this feature isn’t built into the game interface. Matchmaking will be used to join players of similar skill when attempting to join a Ranked game. As a secondary condition, players will be matched up by using the strength of their Lances, as determined by the Combat Value (CV) rating of the Lance. Each component added to a mech increases the overall CV of the mech and the overall CV of the Lance. The Lance CV is used to determine its combat ability. Only Lances with closely matched CVs will be pitted against each other.”

Taken from the We get more info about MWT interview

-----------------------------------------

Taken from PC world articol (07/30/2012)

“Since Mechwarrior Tactics will be free to play, the game features many of the tropes of F2P games: You start out with some basic mechs and gear, and as you play you can pick up additional gear by spending in-game currency you collect for successfully completing missions. Of course, you can always spend real money to accelerate the process, but if you’re patient enough (and play enough) you won’t have to

As you collect currency, you spend it on STACs – essentially expansion packs containing a random mix of “cards.” If you’ve played multiplayer Mass Effect 3, you’ll understand how it works – it’s much like the classic collectible card game model. After buying a STAC, you can open it to check out the contents.

Your mechs have a base set of gear, but the gear you acquire in STACs may contain better stuff. In fact, there are dozens of weapons manufacturers and weapon types, much like the huge variety to be found in the RPG-esque shooter Borderlands. Some weapons may offer improved chance for a critical hit; others may generate less heat. Still others weigh a little less, allowing you to mount more of them in one of your mechs.

(LOOK MECH LAB!!!!!!!!!!!!!!)
Once your unit is configured, it’s off to the battlefield, where you’ll fight other lances. You’ll start off in a PvE environment (you versus AI-controlled units), but as you gain experience, better gear and a reputation, you may start encountering other human-controlled units.

Mechwarrior Tactics is turn based, but with a twist: you issue orders, as does your opponent. When you’re both ready, the orders execute in real time. First, you’ll tell your mechs who to attack.

after issuing attack orders for all your units, you then declare movement.
When that phase is done, and your opponent is ready, all the orders execute in real time. Each set of orders represents a few seconds of actual combat. You get to watch events unfold onscreen, but have no control until the end of the phase, similar to games like Combat Mission or Laser Squad Nemesis."

Things taken from the MechWarrior Tactics sticks to its board game roots with intense 1-on-1 firefights article

“There’s gonna be different levels of packs — different theme packs — depending on the type of promotion [running] that month,” said Romanchuk. “And people are able to buy this and add to their collection of MechWarrior stuff to play with.”

(so we will have flavor of the month packs, maybe even House specific packs)

With no single-player campaign to speak of, MWT is purely focused on 1-on-1 skirmishes. This struck me as odd, as the BattleTech universe certainly has no shortage of fictional adventures to explore. Romanchuk wouldn’t rule out the possibility of adding something along those lines post-launch, saying they’ll closely listen to what the fans want once the game is in their hands.

(I THINK I CAN speak for all us old TT players MAKE THIS HAPPEN, I will PAY for good campaign)

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Taken from RTS Guru (Art & Design) article

(WHY THEY WENT WITH THIS ART STYLE)

“It's been a process of studying each Mech and picking out the distinctive visual elements we wanted to keep. Figuring out those visual cues is part of an ongoing evaluation of all the BattleMechs we're using in MWT now and in future releases. The real challenge has been distilling those unique qualities while leaving us the freedom to still present new ideas on how we envision these giant multi-ton robots.

That’s the philosophy that has carried us through the MWT art process -- to avoid the washed out, grainy distressed aesthetic. We want bold and colorful, a vibrant vision of the MechWarrior Tactics universe where the explosions are bombastic and looking at the wreckage is awesome.”

(THIS IS WHY THEY WENT WITH THIS ART STYLE :D enjoy )

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Things taken from PA report Article

"The STACs will be arranged in tiers, and the “bronze” level will contain things like heat sinks and basic items. Commodities. The higher levels will contain new Mechs, powerful weapons, and other upgrades. “Each pack is pretty distinct from every other pack,” Romanchuk said. “To make a full lance we found out that you’re going to need some ultra-rares, but also some rather common cards, heat-sinks and what not. So buying a platinum pack as opposed to buying a bronze pack is a very different experience. It’s not just bronze pack is less than or a budget version.”

(SO it looks like the lower Stacs are your equipment depot)

"The lower level packs will sell for around a dollar in real currency," (SO Bronze STACS are about $1 (USD))

"He also argued that doubles of cards and Mechs won’t be an issue. “Right now, if you get multiple of a Mech, you would be extremely lucky. We have such a large card pool that we’re launching with. It’s not in the hundreds, it’s in the thousands."

“We don’t want to hand someone this collectible card that they’ve spent money and time searching for and dramatically change it, because that’s just unfair. But if we can change and tweak the stats of everything else, or everything else that comes afterwards, or that card in a way that’s not so game breaking, that’s what we’re going to do.”

(this is good, no MMO comes out balanced, good call MWT)

They’re playing with different ideas for the subscription service. “We’ve looked around to see what other companies are doing with their subscription models, and we definitely want to do something a little different, and more valuable and exciting than just here are 20 cards for every month you subscribe to us at the lowest tier, or 100 cards at the highest tier. We’re trying to stay away from that, definitely.” As for concrete ideas of what that might be? Romanchuk refused to comment.

(cool, so if you get the Sub you might just get a EXP and gold/in game Money boost)

(Devs Q&A)

(1) Question:
Q: Can you expand on how the turns proceed? Specifically: Is there any kind of initiative or other 'speed' factor beside how far you can move per turn?

A: The only thing that influences how far a ‘Mech may move during a turn are that ‘Mech's "Movement Points" (MP). ‘Mechs are able to walk or run and, if they have Jump Jets, they may also take to the sky (albeit for a limited time!). A ‘Mech’s current amount of MP can be affected by damage to the legs, terrain and heat level. Initiative is a concept that MWT uses to break ties. Due to the “double blind” movement declarations that each player will plan during their turn, there is a chance that each player will choose the same destination hex as their opponent. Whoever has the Initiative will be allowed to move into that hex and the player without will have their ‘Mech moved to a hex close to the destination.
Initiative is randomly decided at the beginning of a match and awarded to a player. At the end of each turn, the Initiative is passed to the next player
.

22/05/2012 – (2) question:
Q: How does the game decide when you shoot vs. when you move?

A: In MWT, each of the players declare their turns simultaneously. Once all turns have been submitted, the game displays the results and the next turn starts.
  • Declare your weapon attacks for the turn for each ‘Mech.
  • Plan the movement for the turn for each ‘Mech by choosing your desired destination hex.
  • Commit the turn.
  • Watch the awesome cinematic outcome of the turn you just planned!
The awesome cinematic outcome is all handled automatically by a whole bunch of magical code to ensure that the whole thing looks as badass as possible

(3a) Question:

Can I set an order along the lines of "Wait here, shoot if anything comes within your range"? e.g. reaction fire.

Answer:

There are no “reactive” orders in MWT. A large part of the strategy is trying to predict where your opponent will move and fire. All of your planning for each turn will be acted upon at the end of that turn during the cinematic replay.

(3b) Question:

Will it be possible to design custom "private" battles/campaign for friends online?

Answer:

MWT will allow for custom Mission configurations by allowing players to select a number of Mission Parameters, such as turn length, Map and Allowed Combat Value.
MWT won’t have a built in campaign, but there is nothing from stopping players from creating and maintaining their own metagame outside of the official game. In fact, we are very excited to see what the community comes up with!

(#4a) Question:

Can you make targeted shots for specified hit locations?

Answer:

All the hit locations are randomized, but are weighted, in order of most to least likely to be hit: Center Torso, Left/Right Torso, Left/Right Arm, Left/Right Leg, Head.

(#4b) Question:

How are the game maps generated, do I chose a map and tune it, or will one be randomly assigned when 2 players agree to a game?

Answer:

All of the maps are generated by the MWT design team and are not tunable by the player. When creating a custom match with friends, the player who starts the match selects the map.
If searching for a random match, a player can select their preferred maps and the matchmaking system will attempt to find a match with those preferences.

(5a) Question:

Do our mech pilots gain experience or any skills? / If they gain XP or Skills, they have perma-death?

Answer:

Pilots do not gain experience. Each Pilot will have their own set of skills, but those cannot be modified.
There is no perma-death for any card that you have collected through STACs.

(5b) Question:

How will ECM and BAP work? Can you "hide" lance mates under your ECM umbrella and how does this appear visually to you, and the opponent?

Answer:

We really like the idea of sensor gameplay as it adds all kinds of neat opportunities for information warfare. While it is a really cool feature, MWT won't be launching with ECM or BAP technologies.

(6) Question:

Will there be anomalies and certain events that impact gameplay ... such as dropping onto a planet that is experiencing radiation storms in its atmosphere or solar flare activity affecting electronics systems of mechs involved (possible interference of advanced targeting systems and C3 units [if they are in the game])?

Answer:

We've considered all kinds of cool events for gameplay that can throw a nice big wrench into the plans of players. You'll have to wait until we get this game launched to see any of those things, as they are really just the frosting on the cake that is still in the oven.
On a side note, C3 Networks weren't introduced until 3050 and Advanced Targeting Computers were introduced into the Inner Sphere in 3062.

(7) Question:
Will Battlemechs such as the Jenner be able to Flip their Arms and engage targets behind them?

Answer:
No arm flipping at launch. Torso twisting is as good as it gets for firing behind you.

Got a Question ask it here, NO question is to small

Tweet chat on May 23, 2012

@regen: Do you think the battletech game is fundamentally balanced? I've always thought heavier mechs were much more advantaged
@mwtactics: @regen Big mechs always have some advantage, so we have a combat value system to help players compare mechs with one another

@crathjen: What comes from winning battles? More/less $, weapons / chassis, or will that only be in future game modes? Can u sell stuff?
@mwtactics: @crathjen Battles have rewards, and they are tangible. You'll be able to use your winnings to augment your lances.

@QmanGaming: MWTactics how many maps will there be at launch?
@mwtactics: @Qmangaming The advantage we have is a constant roll out of maps, so we will release an initial set but we'll expand it quickly.

@nucleariffic: Can planets change hands? Will there be a globalk quickview map if so?
@mwtactics: @nucleariffic We're focusing on the pvp first, our plans are big. BIG. So we'll get there over time.

@cecilandblues: how time sensitive will matches be, can I leave a turn for a day? A week?
@mwtactics: @cecilandblues You can take your time but much like other asynch style turn based games there will be a stale date on your game

@ryanlmwong: How many games can you have concurrently?
@mwtactics: @ryanlmwong The only real limit is the number of lances you can deploy to missions. A lance can only be in one mission at a time

@designerwhite: How handsome are the artists who work on Tactics? Very or extremely?
@mwtactics: @desginerwhite We have perhaps the finest looking artists alive. Extremely handsome.

@QmanGaming: @MWTactics will game mode allow more than two players ie: 2 v 2?
@mwtactics: @Qmangaming we'll be starting out with PvE and 1v1. Our plans are big right? So we hope to expand multi-player further as we go

@warrencbennett: Is anything in MechWarrior Tactics considered Cannon, in regards to the fiction?
@mwtactics: @warrencbennet we're not creating canon, we want to live in the IP, not change it. So we have Randall Bills keeping us honest.

@dog_s0litude: Any plans for battles larger than lance v. lance? Only mechs, or will armor be included eventually?
@mwtactics: @dog_s0litude that depends on what the community wants and what players respond to. We're focusing on mechs, but who knows?

@Direphoenix: what scale are the hexes in MWT? 30m per the tabletop, or 10m per the miniature rules?
@mwtactics: @Direphoenix we've got 30 m hexes, but the parity is different between screen and tabletop. The 'Mechs read bigger on screen.

@Inrideo: will there be a fragmentation of users (a la CoD) as map packs are released?
@mwtactics: @Inrideo We want to keep a consolidated community. our aim is that any player can access any map.

@BlueWaffIe: @MWTactics How many developers do you have working on MWT?
@mwtactics: @Bluewaffle We'll, we're a pretty talented tight knit group.

@JangyoPryde: Will there be any more mechs? Will they be released after launch?
@mwtactics: @JangyoPryde Absolutely! We want to make them all. There will be a launch set and further expansions post-release

T-CHAT 06/20/2012

@EVECasually: How will the long term progression in the game work? Can I build up a wicked sweet company of mechs and mercs?
@mwtactics: @EVEcasually Building a sweet company of 'Mechs requires you to collect all the sweet weapons & tech from STACs. Collect & build!

@EVECasually: Can I hire infantry? Tanks? Artillery? Orbital Bombardment? Bioweapons? Chemical weapons? Nuclear weapons?
@mwtactics: @EVEcasually At launch, MWT will focus on 'Mechs only. Lots of cool weapons to play with, especially with variants.

@Gendou: Tell us more about these manufacturer set bonuses.
@mwtactics: @Gendou Equiping Tech from the same manufacturer will give you a bonus if you have enough of it. Synergy between Tech is important!

@dog_s0litude: Will there be city terrain on any of the maps?
@mwtactics: @dog_s0litude No city terrain at launch. We love those environments and may see some of that in the future.

@Gendou: What sort of items can we expect to pay for as opposed to simply earning through gameplay?
@mwtactics: @Gendou You can earn all weapons, Tech, MechWarriors, Chassis - everything - through STACs. You can't buy singles to pay2win.

@Gendou: Please provide us with a measure of reassurance with regards to "Pay to Win" concerns.
@mwtactics: @Gendou Each Lance is rated with a Combat Value that is comprised of all Mech CVs. CV match ups make battles fair. #notpaytowin

@Gendou: How many STACs on average will it take to earn a complete 'Mech?
@mwtactics: @Gendou Still tuning STAC distribution model. If you're lucky, you might pull a fully preconfigured Mech that is ready to play!

@Direphoenix: Since MWT starts w/ 3025 tech, will there be any Star League (2750) tech items being found in STACs?
@mwtactics: @Direphoenix We will be expanding the Tech base in future content. IS didn't get LosTech until the Helm Memory Core...

@ashtur_anvangan: Will you plot all movement and fire orders at the same time? What about a unit that gets damaged before movement? (risking falls)
@mwtactics: @ashtur_anvangan Damage is still resolved simultaneously at the end of the turn. Plot your move, plot your fire.Watch them explode.

@dog_s0litude: Will commanders be able to field more/less than 4 mechs at a time?
@mwtactics: @dog_s0litude A full Lance is required for now

@Gendou: STACs are earned via gameplay and not just for cash, correct? Are the cash STACS the same as earned STACS?
@mwtactics: @Gendou STACs earned via gameplay are the same you can pay Cash for. Earn 'em or buy 'em, they're still the same!

@Gendou: For someone who pulled agromech after agromech in MWClix, what makes STAC different in function as boosters?
@mwtactics: @Gendou Booo agromechs. STACs contain components for customizing your chassis. You have the control over what you field.

@relaxinparadise: Hi chris, thanks for having this forum. Are there any plans to do co-op scenarios?
@mwtactics: @relaxinparadise Very welcome. We've considered this but MWT is only launching with 1v1 or 1vAI. Destroy your friends!

@Gendou: How is aiming handled for simultaneous turns? Must I predict where my target will be ala Frozen Synapse?
@mwtactics: @Gendou 1.Declare fire against target's current position. 2.Plan move for next turn. 3 & 4.Fire at target's current position & Move

@dog_s0litude:How many games should we expect to play before earning a STAC?
@mwtactics: @dog_s0litude Depends on the flavour of STAC you want... we are tuning this. U should get rewards for being awesome and playing

@relaxinparadise: Will there be any clan tech circa 3025 available? Or does 3025 mean inner sphere only? Star league tech perhaps?
@mwtactics: @relaxinparadise No Clan tech yet. No Star League tech yet. Our 3025 weapon variants will keep you busy for a while b4 we expand.

@Gendou: So 1vAI? There will be a 'single-player' component in the form of bot-matches? Any downside to earnings?
@mwtactics: @Gendou MWT will have bot matches. Bot matches will be less rewarding than PvP, but you still get rewards.

@Gendou: Is there a limitation on turns or games per day? Or are we only limited by how many 'Mechs we can field?
@mwtactics: @Gendou The number of Lances you have is your limit. Get more Mechs, field more Lances, play more turns for more matches.

@Gendou: Is there any cap on daily or weekly earnings?
@mwtactics: @Gendou Would you like a limit? If you play, you get rewarded.

@relaxinparadise: Will working for one house make it impossible to work for another later? eg. contracts for kurita never davion?
@mwtactics: @relaxinparadise Still exploring Faction mechanics for post launch... I am not in favour of restricting player choices 4 missions.

@Gendou:Will there be a 'premium' or 'gold' account level via subscription, and if so, what might it offer?
@mwtactics: @Gendou We'll have some cool stuff for players who want to get a premium MWT experience, but nothing that is pay2win.

@relaxinparadise: Is there any trade allowed? Would there be limits with respect to current position in the inner sphere? Shipping costs?
@mwtactics: @relaxinparadise No trading or selling scheduled for launch. You get to keep all your cool toys... for now.

@Gendou: I know it's far too early, but any thoughts on a 'Founder' type preorder similar to @MechWarriorF2P?
@mwtactics: @Gendou We're talking about and have a plan for something cool re: Founder. Stay tuned for more details as they are ready to share!

@Gendou: No, I expect a premium subscription would be more along the lines of increased STAC earnings per match, am I right?
@mwtactics: @Gendou My lips are sealed on anything specific... shhhh... lots of cool and secret stuff going on over here at @acronymgames

@Gendou: Internally, have any particular builds or variants proven more popular than others?
@mwtactics: @Gendou The ones that blow things up the fastest! (My 12 small laser Atlas rocks at 3 hexes or less...)

@relaxinparadise: Will you get a starter mech, if so, do you get a choice? Are we starting out with rent a mechs? Thanks again! #excited
@mwtactics: @relaxinparadise Everyone gets the same starter set, but can quickly start customizing. That's a design mandate!

T-CHAT 07/18/2012
Here's the transcript of the #tweetchat we had on july 18th with Studio Art Director Murray McCarron.

@MrEmarred: What was your main art inspiration aside from BT universe for the designs being used?
@MWTactics: The vision for the art style was inspired by preceding MW & BT designs and more traditional fantastic sci-fi art work. ‪

@BigDamn_Heroes: How customizable will the appearance of the 'Mechs be?

@MWTactics: You will customize mechs, weapon loadout, paint & patterns etc is available. Customization options will grow.

@Gendou: What visual cues do you consider key in your Mech redesigns? ‪
@MWTactics: We approached the more common visual cues of the original mech designs, such as the atlas skull like cock pit etc...

@Gendou: Does your art direction prioritize the way a Mech looks on the isometric playing field?
@MWTactics: The camera can be pushed out and brought up close so we needed to balance 'Mech shapes and details.

@Mitch7: How detailed will the visual damage models be in the game? Bullet holes or a general color graphic?
@MWTactics: Mechs will have levels of damage visually represented on the models.

@Modred189: Who, historically, have been your favorite/most inspirational artists? Authors?
@MWTactics: For sci-fi, artist works of Ralph Mcquarrie and Sid Mead. ‪

@ratchet0099: How important is scale to the design of maps? Lots of scaled items or is generic the way to go?
@MWTactics: Scale is very important, we exaggerate elements where needed, it's never 1:1

@matt_j_french: Are there any plans give players a first person view during the battle scenes?
@mwtactics: We are working really hard to deliver an engaging battle sequence to the users.

@Gendou: What has been the biggest challenge in updating and modernizing the 'classic' designs?
@MWTactics: Creating a distinct design that stood out from current and past MW IPs, without alienating the hard core audience.‪

@BigDamn_Heroes: What has been your favorite 'Mech to work on so far? ‪
@MWTactics: Jenner re design, I always disliked those forward bending knees.

@Gendou: Which of the Mech redesigns are you most pleased with? ‪
@MWTactics: Stalker design, adding in the strong legs and mass to communicate his tonnage and power.

@Modred189: Are the 3D turnarounds the in-game mech assets, or are they just for fun/advertising etc? (they look great btw!!)
@MWTactics: Those are the models in-game.

@Mitch7: Will there be weather, darkness and or effects to reduce visibility?
@MWTactics: Not at launch but its something we are working towards if needed.

@dleslie: Is there any truth to the rumours about a new art direction involving rainbows and pink Mechs?
@MWTactics: Plenty of bronies on the MWT team so you never know. Rainbow Dash's is a big art inspiration for Murray.

@pnzrdrgoon: Is there any truth to the rumour of hats for mechs?
@MWTactics: The problem is that pageboys, fedoras, 10-gallons all clash. We've

8/22/2012 tweetchat

@snapdragion: Any idea when beta will start for the forum people?
@MWTactics:
It's already started, we are continually opening more beta spots, too. So keep checking - James R

@MWTactics: By the way, you're chatting with @iclorox, @romanchukenator and @baxatron on the tweetchat today

@BigDamn_Heroes: Any idea how many 'Mechs will be in at launch yet?
@MWTactics: More than a dozen. We'll continually roll out more 'Mechs, too. at launch it's 1v1 but we're excited about potentially expanding match types. Grinder's are awesome.

@Gendou: What can you tell us about plans for eventual premium products outside of the STACs?
@MWTactics: Good question, but for now nothing. Plans in the works, top secret and all that jazz.

@TrocarRogue: Are you planning any single player options at all or will it always be multi?
@MWTactics: We're totoally thinking about single player. We have it. We're gonna expand it.
Additional: Just to clarify the single player: it's bot matches, no campaign. - James R

@octagontheory: Is this tweetchat is limited to very specific promotion-type questions? #mwtchat
@MWTactics: We're taking good, interesting questions! Some marketing stuff we can't answer but let 'em rip.

@BigDamn_Heroes: any word on how/when the timeline will advance?
@MWTactics: Timeline advancement will be event-driven not time-driven. Not day to day.

?: How often will rankings be updated?
@MWTactics: We're not launching with a ranking system. We have this on the back-burner, though. - James R

@Gendou: Do you think achievements or trophies are a possibility? Or do you not want to go down that road?
@MWTactics: Most definately a possibility. We want these pretty bad.

@adultswimbaked: What options will we have when a lance is locked in a game and your opponent hasn't taken his turn in a long time?
@MWTactics: You have options to set the turn timer for shorter matches! Opponents can time out, too. #mwtchat

@Scynix: Will IS / Clan mechs be balanced against each other by volume of units (lore) or purely statistical?
@MWTactics: Stat-balanced more than lore.

@woody60707: How or will custom match that we can set up be worked in the game?
@MWTactics: You can set up a custom match with friends

@Direphoenix: How finalized are the models for the 'Mechs and weapon modules? Set in stone, or still loosey-goosey?
@MWTactics: Nothing's ever final in an online game! But... we're super happy with how things are looking. #mwtchat

@dog_s0litude: Any chance we'll be able to make our own custom skins, or will those only be purchasable items?
@MWTactics: No user created content but you'll have options to mix'n match.

@HerrVilhelmsson: How will the matchmaking work. Some kind of rating or will it just be random?
@MWTactics: Ranked matches will use a ranking system. You'll set random custom preferenaces if you want, for nonranked

@BigDamn_Heroes: re: timeline. How far do you plan on advancing? Just to clan era? Jihad? Dark ages?
@MWTactics: Depends how long we keep going. How long d'you want to keep supporting us?

?: Is one mech having multiple targets in one turn possible?
@MWTactics: Quite simply, yes :)

@BigDamn_Heroes: How awesome is it to be involved with revitalizing the BT/MW franchise?
@MWTactics: 80 tons and 3 PPCs worth of Awesome.

@MWTactics: Thanks for joining us in this awesome #tweetchat! On behalf of @iclorox, @romanchukenator, @baxatron and myself (KillCheggers) , have a great night!

Keeping informed
There are a few ways to stay informed (1) here on their news thread (2) there Facebook page (3) they also have a twitter account

OR

Go to the No Guts No Galaxy podcast, they will talk about MWT if there is anything new or they think they found something of interest (like going thru the devs trashcan and taking what they tossed out).

The devs (IGP)
The devs will always have a blue mech as there avatar (at least they do as of now). Here are their names ( i won’t put a link to them because I don’t want them to get spammed with emails because of me)

IGP_Chris
IGP_Rob
IGP_Sergio

IGP_Sophie
mreginalIGP

We also have iclorox who is with ACRONYM

Well that’s all I can think of right now PLEASE tell me if I said anything wrong or if I can add something

Thank you and good hunting

again thank you so much FireMandrill for diging this up for me /forums/public/style_emoticons/default/biggrin.png

Continuing all info from BETA and anything that comes out after beta will be here

Facts taken from 11/07: Dev Intro to Card Types - Weapons! blog

http://mwtactics.com...-types-weapons/

PLEASE READ THIS WHOLE BLOG it has lots of good tips on keeping your mechs simple and make sure you don’t deviate from the mechs role, it never ends well

The weapons (cards) in the game will have many types like common rear and ultra-rear, we also know they will have many different manufactures from the same type of weapon (small laser and the like) and if you have all weapons from the same manufactory it could give a small bones to your stats

Facts taken from the Introduction to Cards - Core Tech blog

http://mwtactics.com...ypes-core-tech/

You will Not get a whole mech in each card, when you get a mech card it will be the chassie only, the wepons come sepritly and it also looks like armor dose as well

The basic version of each of these cards is included in each Chassis and cannot be removed. That’s an important part of the design as it prevents the player from accidentally creating more work for themselves by removing something critical to their ‘Mech’s basic functions.”

“The Engine Card on your Chassis defines how many Movement Points your Mech gets to Walk and Run.”

“Engines take up 6 Critical Slots in the Center Torso by default. If you don’t know what Crit Slots are, you might have to wait for the ‘Mech Bay write up for a full explanation, but basically, it is how much space it takes away from you jamming as many weapons as you can into the same space”

“Your Gyro is what keeps your hundred tonne bipedal warmachine upright as it runs over rough terrain, lobbing explosive munitions across the battlefield with glee. This card takes 4 crt slots (or CS)

“Actuators are the “muscles and joints” of your ‘Mechs and take up , The difference is that Arm Actuator takes 2 Crit Slots, III takes 3 and IV takes up 4.”.

READ THIS
“Note to Tabletop Players: We grouped the Hip, Upper Leg, Lower Leg and Foot actuators into a single Actuator. Since all ‘Mechs have the same Leg Tech, we didn’t need versions with different Crit Slot allocations. We’ve grouped them together for the same reasons as the Arm Actuators. No more Peg Leg ‘Mechs on a Hip crit!”

By reading this it looks like you can literally build your own mech from what leg Actuator, engine and everything in-between, yes you will have the card to put ion it but it also looks like you can easily get the parts for your mech due to the fact that the bronze level stacks will be more of the equipment depot. And the fact that you can get scrap after every game you play, SO YOU DON’T HAVE TO PAY TO GET YOUR CARDS. You just have to play

It may seem like a lot to do to put a good mech together but if it was easy then this would not be much of a game would it.

"A laser isn't just a laser," Williams said. "A laser is going to be created by a certain manufacturer, and so if you have a number of components from the same manufacturer, you can actually have bonuses. So we're driving players to actually look for and collect components that work well together."

This sounds pretty weird and might not be a great idea but I guess we'll see how it works out.

i like the idea, it adds more to the game, it adds levels to each weapon you own (like saying this small laser is the base, but the laser made my Crackpot is stronger but as a smaller range)

(#4a) Question:

Can you make targeted shots for specified hit locations?

Answer:

All the hit locations are randomized, but are weighted, in order of most to least likely to be hit: Center Torso, Left/Right Torso, Left/Right Arm, Left/Right Leg, Head.

While this means that hit allocation will, at least roughly, follow tabletop rules, the response doesn't really address the question, which is basically, "can we make called shots at a to-hit penalty?" You can do it in the tabletop game (easier with a Clan targeting computer), and you could do it in MechCommander.

For those interested, here's the tabletop hit allocation table:

Die Roll (2D6) -- Left Side -- Front/Rear -- Right Side
2* ----- L Torso ----- C Torso ----- R Torso
3 ----- Left Leg ----- Right Arm ----- Right Leg
4 ----- Left Arm ----- Right Arm ----- Right Arm
5 ----- Left Arm ----- Right Leg ----- Right Arm
6 ----- Left Leg ----- Right Torso ----- Right Leg
7 ----- Left Torso ----- C Torso ----- Right Torso
8 ----- C Torso ----- Left Torso ----- C Torso
9 ----- Right Torso ----- Left Leg ----- Left Torso
10 ----- Right Arm ----- Left Arm ----- Left Arm
11 ----- Right Leg ----- Left Arm ----- Left Leg
12 ----- Head ----- Head ----- Head

* roll for possible crit

I think they were trying to make is as you are the commander and the pilot made the decision, but ya as the commander you could make a suggestion to leg it or something but I think there just trying to make something that each pilot is good at or they tend to aim at (we will see soon enough I hope)

UPDATED

CHAT 06/20/2012

@mwtactics: @Gendou 1.Declare fire against target's current position. 2.Plan move for next turn. 3 & 4.Fire at target's current position & Move

Just like pokemon tcg different type of catds for same pokemon or different types of brands for small lazers! hope we start off with some mechs to start with and will they have weapons on them or will the cards deal with that so we just get the chassis?

didnt read all answers,
there is a huuuge mistake in the "faq" part.... (gave me some troubled hours ^^)

(2) Question:

[....]

The turn sequence for MWT is as follows:
  • Declare your weapon attacks for the turn for each ‘Mech.
  • Plan the movement for the turn for each ‘Mech by choosing your desired destination hex.
  • Commit the turn.
  • Watch the awesome cinematic outcome of the turn you just planned!

it would be realy strange to attack first and move after.... pls bring this in the right order... first move, then attack!
i imagined how BT would feel, if these were switched... *brrrrr*

I don't think this is something that should be put here. This is for what we know or has been quoted.

So here is how most of us think the game runs right now:

Turn 1: fire phase
Turn 1: movement phase
----------------------------------------------
Cutscene showing turn 1 fire phase!
----------------------------------------------
Turn 2: fire phase
Turn 2: movement phase
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Cutscene showing turn 1 movement phase, then turn 2 fire phase!
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Turn 3: fire phase
Turn 3: movement phase
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Cutscene showing turn 2 movement phase, then turn 3 fire phase!
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Turn 4: fire phase
Turn 4: movement phase
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Cutscene showing turn 3 movement phase, then turn 4 fire phase!
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

And so on. It is a little tough to wrap your head around on paper, but in-game it will feel alot more fluid.
